Cinnamon Buns

Cinnamon BunsSoft, Moist, and Gooey
There is nothing better than putting in hard work to get out a nice warm cinnamon bun. Lets not forget lathering in icing!
The Dough
1/2 cup milk

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoon sugar and yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it bubbles, then remove from heat. Mix in 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and salt; stir until melted. Let cool until lukewarm.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, milk mixture, eggs and 1 1/2 cup flour; stir well to combine. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  3. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.

  1. Divide dough into two pieces. Roll each piece into a 12x9 inch rectangle. In a bowl, stir together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Spread each piece with half of the butter, half of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough, using a little water to seal the seam.
  2. Cut each roll into 12 slices using a very sharp knife or dental floss. Place rolls onto two 9x13 inch greased baking pans. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

  1. Oh! You know what you should try on your cinnamon buns (that look great, by the way...). You should put sugar crusted pecans and caramel on them. It really good, but has a ton of extra sugar.
    great post!

  2. Cinnamon buns are one of my favourite things. If you put a little bit of icing on them while they're still warm it's so delicious. Can't wait to read more!
